Wednesday is National Signing Day. High school athletes from a number of local schools are signing their letters of intent to play college sports.
Two local players will be heading to Notre Dame to play basketball. Marian High School's Demetrius Jackson signed his letter of intent to play basketball at Notre Dame. Jackson's friend, Austin Torres from Penn High School, also signed to play with the Fighting Irish.
Four Elkhart Central students-athletes will continue to play baseball at the college level. Tanner Tully is heading to Ohio State and Cory Malcolm will head south to play at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Matt Eppers will play ball for the Cardinals at Ball State, though he didn't sign his letter today. Along with playing baseball, Eppers will also walk-on to the Cardinal football team, which has delayed the paperwork needed. Kaleb Defreese signed his letter today to play at Indiana Wesleyan.
