A LaGrange man was arrested after police say he made threats
to a person in the parking lot of a Topeka
business.
Indiana State Police say it started around 2:10 Wednesday afternoon
when the LaGrange County Sheriff's Department received a call about a man
threatened another man in a Topeka
business's parking lot. The caller told police the suspect indicated he had a
handgun and damaged a vehicle before leaving.
The Sheriff's Department, along with Indiana State Police
and officers from Topeka, Ligonier, Shipshewana,
Rome City
and Noble County all responded to the call. The
business was placed on lock down during the search.
Police say the suspect, 28-year-old Joas Eicher of LaGrange,
was found and arrested around 3:00 p.m. in downtown Topeka. Police say he was not armed with a
handgun.
Eicher is being held at the LaGrange County Jail on
preliminary charges of Attempted Aggravated Battery, Intimidation and Criminal
Mischief. He's expected to appear in a LaGrange County
court on Thursday.
