Regardless of the prices, there are families that won't be able to afford a Thanksgiving Dinner this season. And students from seven South Bend high schools are collecting food for them. It's part of their Student Hunger Drive campaign. For six weeks, the students will collect food for the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. The goal of the program is to teach teenagers about community service. The drive's executive director is pleased with the number of students involved in this inaugural event. "Its been totally amazing and emotional for me to see it from start to finish. I knew that Northern Indiana's students and community and sponsors would come together to make an amazing number but I'm so excited to share our amount tonight," said Jessica Hilary the Executive Director of Student Hunger Drive. The students collected more than 73,000 pounds of food. Saint Joseph High School received a thousand dollars for collecting the most food.
