The Saint Joseph County election board apologized Thursday for mistakes made on Election Day.
Board members say they did not realize that absentee ballots were not compatible with election day machines.
Members of the board are also in favor of creating voting centers and adding a election director position.
They hope to have these new additions by the primary elections in 2014.
Voting centers allow citizens more flexibility in where they cast their ballot.
"Voters from all over the county can go to any particular place to any vote center to vote, and then they would get their specific ballot for their specific precinct," says Jim Korpel chairman of the election board.
The election board is scheduled to meet again on January 15.
