A South Bend anti-smoking group wants the city to breathe easy.
Thursday afternoon, Tobacco Free St. Joseph County held an event just outside the College Football Hall of Fame to let people know what they could do to help.
The group put out educational material and talked about what South Bend businesses can do to promote healthy smoke free environments.
Volunteers also created a human no-smoking sign that could be seen from above.
While volunteers were happy with the turn-out Thursday, they hope their continued efforts will let businesses know that their employees do not have to choose between their paycheck and their health.
"We do have pledge cards so people can pledge their support and they'll be in area businesses in downtown South Bend throughout the week," said Sandi Pontius, Tobacco Free St. Joseph Co. "They can fill out their card and say yes we want to see all businesses be smoke free."
