A service many Michiana residents use for food and other needed products was unavailable for much of Friday.
The Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) system failed early Friday morning, disrupting the ability of card holders to make purchases. The EBT system is used in Indiana, Michigan, and many other states to provide food assistance to families in need.
JP Morgan Chase, the vendor for EBT cards in some EBT state including Indiana, experienced a computer problem.
Service was restored around 1:30pm, though some phone service took another hour to be fully restored.
