Fans all over Michiana are reacting to Notre Dame's number 1 ranking.
After
Oregon and Kansas state lost their games Saturday night Notre Dame fans were in
shock, in a good way. Student John Brennan said, "we wanted to get into the top two
but to be number one is pretty exciting.
It's pretty special."
Fan Joseph Berchtold said, "I was
surprised Stanford came back and beat Oregon." Student Michael Kane said, "I wanted one
team to lose so we could play either Kansas State or Oregon but then things
worked out almost too well and we suddenly realized we could be number
one." Student Michael Judd said, "I
didn't wake up yesterday thinking Notre Dame would be number one."
And
number one feels pretty good. "It's pretty unbelievable to see the rankings come out
and they're number one so it's incredible," said Brennan. Judd said, "Notre Dame hasn't been
number one in 20 years and to be a student here in the mix of things hanging
out with my roommate it's just the best."
For
Notre Dame Sophomore Michael Judd being number one is even more special since
Sunday is his birthday. "Gift from the Irish, Good lord above, best gift I
could have," said Judd.
