Holiday travelers in St. Joseph County may have less of a hassle to deal with this week, especially if they take Kern Road to get to their destination.
The road on the south side of South Bend has been closed between U.S. 31 and Locust Road off and on since late July. Crews have been working on the first phase of construction on the new U.S. 31 Ken Road interchange. Transportation officials tell FOX 28 Kern Road will re-open on Wednesday.
Kern will close again during spring of 2013 so crews can complete the bridge portion of the interchange.
