Fog is a flyers worst nightmare.
Julie Curry "I'm supposed to be home," says Julie Curry.
But as flights are delayed and canceled, she doesn't know when that's going to happen.
"It's very frustrating, this is my first Thanksgiving with my new husband and I may not be there. Does anyone want to be stuck in an airport?" says Curry.
Robin Shear waited five hours for his daughter's flight to arrive. "We were here around 10:00 and she wasn't here and she's coming in now, we THINK at about 2:50."
Whether coming or going, the fog was a nuisance for most travelers.
"I saw it was foggy here and I talked to my wife and she said she couldn't even see across the street so I knew it was going to be bad," says traveler, Justin Edenfield.
The fog lingered for awhile, setting a domino affect on flights for the whole day.
"We have not seen fog like this in quite some time and it's very unusual for fog to last as long as it did," says Julie Curtis, spokesperson for South Bend Airport.
It's busy enough at South Bend Airport before Thanksgiving and Curtis says they see about 2,500 passengers. "The weather unfortunately was not at it's best on the busiest travel day."
But for Rebecca Oswalt, the fog hasn't been too bad. Her delayed flight caused her to miss one of her connecting flights. So the airport got her on a new one and now she will arrive in North
"I'm pretty happy about it, it's less travel time and a whole lot less hassle," says Oswalt.
Not everyone was as lucky, but most said as long as they get to their destination by the holiday, they will be happy.
Because fog covered most of the region, Curtis expects delays for awhile. She says contact the airport for your flight schedule if you're traveling.
