The local bars expect to be packed Saturday for Notre Dame's game. They've been getting calls all week from patrons interested in watching. Some are even doing something a little extra special calling this "the biggest away game ever."
Notre Dame Fan Samuel Moon said, "it's been the first time since I was born that Notre Dame was number one. It's just awesome." He and other excited fans are ready to watch the Irish. "That's all we talk about is Notre Dame Football it seems like," said Brandon Shaffer.
While some are lucky enough to head West with the team others will be watching from home in Michiana. "Watching with family," said Abby Whitfield. "Gonna watch it with family and friends. Maybe get some friends over and have a nice little party get together," said Shaffer.
There are some options away from your couch. Joe Mittiga who is the Son of the Owner of Corby's Irish Pub said he's had "a lot of people calling and asking what we've got going on so people are really excited to watch this game. This is one of the biggest away games that I can remember." He said with all the excitement surrounding this game they'll have some special stuff Saturday. "We've got a bunch of giveaways here, we've got t-shirts and beads," said Mittiga.
Corby's is also part of Downtown South Bend's Pigskin Pub Tour. Mittiga wants to remind people that the last game of the season means it's the last chance to get your passport stamped by all participating bars.
O'Rourkes on Eddy Street is planning giveaways too. "We have hats and autographed helmets. We also have lou Holtz and Ara Parseghian lithograph," said Teagan Lawson, O'Rourkes Manager. They'll also be projecting the game on a big screen and providing half time entertainment.
