In all honesty, there weren't a lot of people who expected Notre Dame to be 12-and-0 at the beginning of the season. Notre Dame is the first team in the BCS era to start the season unranked in the Associated Press poll and then advance to the National Championship game.
There have been a lot of critics, none more so than ESPN's Rick Reilly. He's the one who made the infamous comment about Notre Dame not being relevant anymore.
Now he admits he has been humbled. Saturday night, Reilly Tweeted there was no way the Irish would beat USC. He said "If I'm wrong, I'll come to South Bend and polish every...helmet."
After the 22-to-13 win, Notre Dame senior Kapron Lewis-Moore had a response for Reilly. He said "I'll see you in South Bend polishing our helmets!!!" #ExtraShiny. Kap went on to Tweet that he'd even take him out for a burger afterward.
Reilly Tweeted Monday he will not welsh on his bet. "I will polish Notre Dame's helmets, penance is penance. Trying 2 get permission."
