The man convicted after leading police on a chase that ended in him being shot by officers was sentenced to over 10 years in prison.
Earlier this month, Joseph Stambaugh was convicted of Resisting Law Enforcement, Operating a Motor Vehicle After a Lifetime Suspension, False Informing, and two drug possession charges.
Stambaugh was pulled over on South Bend
Avenue back in May. He led police on a chase where he rammed two squad
cars with police inside and ended when officers opened fire on the
vehicle and the car hit a sign in front of the school.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor ruled the officers' firing was justified.
On Wednesday a judge sentenced him for those convictions. The total sentence Stambaugh received adds up to over 14 years, but sentences for three of the charges will be served concurrently. His total comes out to about 10 and 1/2 years in prison.
