Every month South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg puts a night aside to let you ask him ANYTHING!He calls it the "Mayor's Night Out."
This month's event was held at Pinhook Park. We asked the mayor about the search for a new police chief.
He says he's getting closer to picking a candidate. In fact he wants to hire someone by the end of the year.
"We've got to get this right. A police chief is one of the most important appointments a mayor can make and I'm taking this process very seriously," said Mayor Pete Buttigieg. "I'm glad that we've been able to draw a lot of applicants."
The mayor says he'll narrow the list down to three or four finalists...he'll make those names public... then he'll interview the candidates face-to-face.
Again... he wants this all wrapped up by the end of the year.
