The first two homes of the Harbor Town project in Benton Harbor are just about ready for some homeowners.
The project of 12 homes was funded by stimulus dollars and put more than 100 people to work.
The homes are appraised at between $125,000 and $140,000 thousand and are government subsidized, so the sale price would depend on the homeowners income.
"It's great for Benton Harbor. It provides diversity of incomes in this community. It's brand new housing stock that's going to add to the tax base, it's creating local jobs here," says Harbor Town's project manager.
There will be an open house Saturday, December 8th from 2-6pm if you're interested in buying.
Seven people are already on the waiting list, but 5 are still available.
You have to be able to secure a 30 year fixed rate mortgage to qualify and take a homeowner's education class.
