You might be enjoying those warm temperatures, but the weather is hurting local skate rinks.
Both the Howard Park skate rink in South Bend and Nibco Ice and Water Park in Elkhart have had to turn business away because their skate rinks aren't staying frozen.
The rain and warm temperatures are just wreaking havoc and rink operators are making the decision to open on a day by day basis.
"The negative is, of course, we can't open the ice rink on a consistent basis with the warm weather and we lose revenue," said Phil St. Clair, South Bend Parks and Recreation Director. "The positive is we're gaining revenue at the golf course because when you get temps in the 50's and 60's, the golfers are coming out in droves and playing the course, so, you make money on the one side and lose money on the other."
St. Clair added they make more money on the golf course than the ice rink because there's less overhead at the golf course this time of year.
