The Berrien County Sheriff's department is teaming up with the health department to offer you a place for unwanted prescription drugs. A drop box is now set-up in the lobby of the Sheriff's Department.
You can drop off unwanted or expired medicines to be disposed of properly by health officials. Only prescription drugs can be dropped off. No illicit drugs like marijuana or needles are allowed.
Sheriff Paul Bailey says the agencies hope this will cut down on prescription drug abuse. "We hear of a lot of young people that get into the cabinets and take drugs that are sitting around because they did not need them anymore. And this is a way of getting them out of your house so that doesn't happen." You can drop off medications Monday through Friday from 8 to 5.
