Santa made his annual unique entrance into Downtown South Bend Friday. He traded his sleigh for a kayak and paddled his way down the East Race.
A group of good Samaritans and sponsors have come together to make the event possible over the past six years. They invite about 100 kids from local shelters to get gifts, a meal and an opportunity to chat it up with Santa!
"We just saw a need for it in the community. When you see the response from the children and their families that they're so grateful it just makes it all worth it," says Kim Spalding.
