The future of South Bend's New Energy Ethanol Plant is still up in the air. But it's not only the workers feeling burned. Neighbors say their basements are flooding because the plant isn't processing water like it used to. Now their electric bills are skyrocketing because their sump pumps are always running.
South Bend is holding a meeting Tuesday night to talk about the problem. It starts at 6 in the Rum Village Nature Center. Notices have been issued to homeowners in the area telling them about the meeting. If you are planning to attend, the city asks that you call a head of time.
