South Bend school briefly goes on lockdown

A South Bend school had a little bit of a scare Wednesday morning after reports of a suspicious person came into police in the area.

Mishawaka police received a report of a suspicious person on the northwestern side of town.  Tarkington Traditional School, on the east side of South Bend, is nearby and went into lockdown.

Police investigated and found the suspect was unarmed and not a danger.  The school returned normal operations shortly there after.

South Bend School Corporation says a letter will be sent to parents explaining the incident.
