South Bend has been chosen as 1 of nine communities to participate in a special program
Mayor Pete Buttigieg announced that the city will be partaking in the Code for America Fellowship Program. The program works with local governments to use technology efficiently.
The mayor says the Fellows will work with the city on becoming more transparent to residence by giving them more access to an online source of data
"One of the reasons I'm excited is I think this is a real brain gain for the city of South Bend. These are Fellows that are very qualified and talented, they had their pick at a lot of private sector employers and they've chosen to spend one year working on our city's issues instead," says Mayor Buttigieg.
He says he hopes the city will be able contribute less than half of the cost of the total program cost.
