The following is a press release from Midwest Energy Cooperative.
(Cassopolis)- Midwest Energy Cooperative crews are wrapping up the last of the power outages at 9:30 Friday after Mother Nature delivered fierce winds with the first winter storm of the season. The final outages are scattered across the southwest Michigan service territory, and co-op officials expect to have all power restored tonight.
More than 3000 members were without power through much of the day as a result of transmission outages to two cooperative substations and widespread line and individual outages across the co-op distribution system. The winds brought significant damage in the form of downed lines and broken poles. Crews have been out since early this morning working on restoration efforts.
Midwest Energy Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility providing electric distribution and an assortment of energy-related programs and services to more than 35,000 customers in 11 counties in southern Michigan and northern Indiana and Ohio.
The following is a press release from Indiana Michigan Power.
Crews continue working to restore customers following
the winter blast that came through I&M's service territory late Thursday
night and early Friday. As of 2:30 p.m. Sunday, a total of about 440 customers
affected by the storm are awaiting restoration of service. This includes about
400 customers in southwestern Michigan. Due to the type and extent of damage
being found in the South Bend area, crews are also still working to restore
about 40 South Bend area customers, with restoration there expected to last into
the evening.
Much of this stage of the restoration process involves
working to restore smaller pockets of customers and individual properties, which
can be time consuming due to the number of repairs that must be made. Crews are
working hard to get customers back online as safely and efficiently as possible
and appreciate everyone's patience as work continues to get everyone
restored.
As crews continue
working to restore power, here is a rundown of updated restoration
times:
St. Joseph County
area (IN): 8 p.m. today
Berrien and Van
Buren County areas: 95% of customers impacted by the storm will be restored by 6
p.m. today. 100% of customers impacted by the storm will be restored by 4 p.m.
Monday.
