A group of eighth-grade girls at North Side Middle School in Elkhart showed their support for the families of victims in Newtown Connecticut.
They came up with the idea to organize a fundraiser to raise money for a memorial for the Connecticut victims.
Students who donated a dollar were able to wear their PJ's to school Friday.
Student Noelle Flora says, "None of us knew any of the people that did pass there, but everyone was so willing to give to them."
Student Olivia Haworth says, "I thought we might raise like 800 total, but I'm really surprised how far over one thousand we've made."
Student Megan Paritz says, "It makes me feel good because I know people aren't just thinking about themselves. They're caring for others."
The students helped raised a total of $1,520.
