Outside of the University Park Mall Sunday afternoon Cora McMorris said, "I just love last minute shopping. I love to catch the sales, the bargains." So McMorris didn't mind facing huge crowds Sunday. She said all the people don't bother her, "Everybody's so friendly. They tell each other Merry Christmas."
Others share her passion for the last minute sales. Joseph Shoemate said, "we hit up some of the other deals. PacSun had some buy one get one deals." Shoemate wasn't even doing Christmas shopping. He braved the crowds just to get some deals for himself. But he said that actually made it less stressful, "I didn't have anything specific I was looking for so I can take time."
But not everyone wanted to spend a lot of time in the busy mall. "I'm not gonna be in here for hours and deal with everybody bumping shoulder to shoulder. Just getting a couple stocking stuffers just to finish up and wrap up Christmas," said Matthew Miller. Stacy Mure said, "Getting in and out, that's what we want to do." And Lynn Schutz said, "I hate the crowds and all the pressure of getting it at the last minute." So then why do they do it? Shutz said, "I just procrastinated. I didn't think it would be that bad."
Those who hate the last minute shopping have some advice for other last minute shoppers. "Don't do it, just don't do it, plan ahead," said Shutz and Miller said, "Don't do it last minute."
But those who love it also have some tips. "Wait til the last day, last two days cause that's when the prices go down. A lot of things that weren't on sale when we first started now they're on sale now," said Nina Maten.
If you still have some gifts to get, don't worry, you have one more shopping day left. University Park Mall is open tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Concord Mall and several other stores will also be open tomorrow to sell you those last minute gifts.
