From Mass with the Pope at the Vatican, to services in Michiana, Christian leaders are spreading a message of peace this Christmas Eve.
They say it's the reason for the season afterall and churches across Michiana have been packed Monday.
"Whether they regularly go to church or not, Christmas Eve tends to be one of those warm, fuzzy, special times and people come," says Mark Pope, lead pastor at The Vineyard Church.
In part, it's a tradition that folks wouldn't miss out on.
"I wouldn't be anywhere else," says church-goer Vonda Hittle.
"I've always gone to church, ever since I was a little kids. It's just a great time to celebrate the holidays," says church-goer Brandon Woodcox.
Lately the church has also been a place for people to lean after hard times, like the tragic shootings in Newtown, Connecticut.
"He knows we may not understand why, but he's still good at bringing comfort in times of pain," says Pope.
Church-goer Josh Harman says, "There's always gonna be wars in America and we just have to trust him that everything will be ok."
But when it comes to going to church on Christmas Eve, one reason trumps all:
"We know the true meaning of Christmas is about Jesus Christ, Our Savior and you know it's about his birth and resurrection to save us all," says Harman.
Hittle says, "He's the reason for the season."
