The storm isn't here yet, but snow plow drivers with the Indiana Department of Transportation are getting ready for the snow to fall.
INDOT says right now, a dozen plows are pre-treating the roads with salt brine ahead of the storm to help it melt once it starts falling.
Then once the snow is here, they will plow as needed.
Crews work 12 hour shifts, even on Christmas, to keep drivers in Michiana safe.
"Holidays, weekends, and overnights, this is something that obviously it's not their favorite thing in the world, but they're dedicated people who want to make sure everybody else that's on the roads, gets home safe," says Matt Deitchley with INDOT.
INDOT asks that drivers give the plows plenty of room to do their job, don't follow too closely or try to pass a plow.
