Driver flees police in Dowagiac, crashes in yard

Officers say a driver took off during a traffic stop on West Wayne Street in Dowagiac, Friday.

The driver then lost control of the vehicle and got stuck in the yard of a nearby residence.

The two people in the car got out and ran away.

A Silver Creek Township officer who was patrolling nearby and caught the driver on North Front Street, or M-51, near Prairie Ronde.

Police say the driver was drunk and was arrested.

The passenger got away.
