December 31 marks New Year's Eve across the world. But you don't need to be in Times Square in New York to ring in 2013 the right way. There are plenty of events going on all across Michiana to celebrate the holiday.
Swiss Valley Ski Resort in Cass County will be celebrating New Year's Eve with an event called "Ski Into The New Year." There will be two skiing sessions on New Year's Eve. The first runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the second runs from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
During the two hour gap in between those sessions workers will work to groom the slopes and decorate. The cafeteria will be open in between sessions. If you'd like to learn more about the events going at Swiss Valley, you can visit their web site.
Meanwhile in Berrien County the Twin City Players will host a celebration to ring in the new year. They will hold a performance of the musical "Songs For A New World." A cash bar and hors d'oeuvres will be available starting at 7 p.m. at the TCP Studio on Glenlord Road in St. Joseph. The show begins at 8 p.m. and tickets are $25 dollars each.
In South Bend people will "Dance The Night Away" at the Palais Royale on Michigan Street. There will be a wide range of musical performances from Sinatra all the way to contemporary artists like Billy Joel.
The event begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100 dollars a piece. That includes hors d'oeuvres, a plated dinner, dancing, midnight festivities and champagne toast. A cash bar will also be available. If you'd like to purchase tickets you can visit the box office at the Morris Performing Arts Center or you can order online on their web site.
Many bars and taverns in Michiana will also be open late for New Year's Eve. Local law enforcement officials remind you to enjoy the holiday responsibly and to always designate a driver.
