"It would be nice if it was on a local station. All the other games are on local stations. People can get it free over the air so yeah it's a bummer," says Michael Hensle, a ND fan.
A bummer, especially if you're without cable or a dish like Hensle, but he says he still won't miss the Irish.
"I'm going to watch the game, not at my house but I'm going to watch the game," he says.
The National Championship Game won't be playing on local channels, only ESPN, causing many fans to scramble to figure out how they're going to watch.
"We're getting a lot of calls because people want to be able to watch the Notre Dame game on ESPN," says Chad Know, a technician at Ultimate Satellite.
He says he has been busy installing satellite dishes. "I've got jobs as late as 8:30 to go do."
He says most of his installations are for first time users. "People like to talk while I'm at their house and like to tell me why they're getting it. I've definitely been told that people are getting satellite because of the game."
And cable companies say business is booming for them too.
"It is local, it's exciting for the people here and people have said 'absolutely I want to have access to this game. I want to see it, it's so important to me and so I'm going to sign up right away.' We've seen a lot of that," says Jack Segal, the Comcast regional vice president of public relations.
Segal says they were prepared for the rush and have technicians working around the clock to make sure anyone who wants to watch the game can.
"We have installation appointments available between now and Monday. The sooner you call the more likely you will be able to be installed by Monday in time for the game," he says.
So if you want to watch the Irish take on Alabama, you better act fast because it's a game you won't want to miss.
"Not only are we a cable company, but we're also your friends and neighbors and we just want to say 'Go Irish!" says Segal.
