If you can't be in Miami for the game soaking up the sun you've probably got some big plans here at home for watching the Irish take on Alabama. Fans were certainly busy stocking up on food and beverages Saturday afternoon at Meijer.
"Been waiting for this since 88," said Notre Dame fan Dale Feece. That's why he was busy grabbing football party supplies, he's having friends over for the game Monday night. "We'll be having some nachos and all kinds of stuff you're not supposed to eat," said Feece. That's the plan for a lot of Irish fans this Monday. Joe Karbalaeali said, buying some taco dips and whatever else to enjoy the game." Even fans who aren't throwing their own party were still buying supplies to take to others parties.
And the stores are preparing too. Meijer Store Director Rick Zeeff said, "we are just putting everything out there so anyone that wants to have their own National Championship party has everything to chose from." Meijer has quite the spread to help you with your party needs.
Football cakes, cookie cakes, cupcakes, veggie trays, apparel, even Irish flower bouquets. Why? Because Notre Dame going for the Championship is a really big deal. "This is like an extra superbowl. This should be bigger than the superbowl unless we get somebody like the colts in the superbowl," said Zeeff. He anticipates being busy right up until kick off Monday night. And Meijer has made it easy for you. They've put all the Notre Dame themed items up front and all the chips and beer are directly behind that.
