A school rivalry will be helping out the community.
Mishawaka Schools will take on South Bend Schools to participate in a Goodwill challenge called Extreme Closet Makeover. For the next month, students at all levels are urged to donate clothes, books, electronics and household items at Goodwill.
"Getting the kids to think about cleaning out their closets, helping individuals, and recycling instead of just throwing things in the trash and doing landfills. So it's a win-win across the board for everybody," says Goodwill spokesperson, Debie Coble.
"If families have things that they would like to donate, it's a great time to clean out your closet. You got new things maybe over the holidays so it's a good time to clean out your closet and donate to Goodwill," says Terry Barker, Mishawaka Schools superintendent.
At the end of the competition, the school corporation with the most donations will be rewarded a trophy.
