South Bend may become more accessible for those who are handicapped.
Acting city attorney Aladean DeRose made a presentation to the board of public works highlighting several areas around the city that need to be upgraded.
The Americans with Disabilities Act states that city buildings must be accessible for the handicapped.
DeRose says there are a number of places that people walk which need to be worked on.
"36 sidewalks and curbs, well intersections need to be adjusted to accomodate the disabled," says Derose.
The South Bend common council will review the plan at their next meeting on January 28.
