"The trip was nice, but the game was a little bit shaky," says Warren Verteramo, a ND fan.
That was the common reaction from fans just landing at South Bend Regional Airport after their trip to Miami.
"The trip was a blast, I mean it was a bummer that the Irish lost, but we still had a lot of fun in Miami," says fan, Dylan Lemert.
For some, this trip was a dream come true.
"It's been a dream of mine to go to Miami and an even bigger dream to watch Notre Dame play the National Championship," says fan, Robert Newton.
It was a costly trip, but even without a win these fans say it was worth every penny.
"The atmosphere was priceless, it's something you can't get even at a home Notre Dame game. It's Notre Dame times ten," says Newton.
They say it was hard to leave the warm Florida weather.
"Going from the 80 degree weather to this is not ideal, but I love South Bend despite the snow," says student, Kayla Bolcari.
"It's about as cold as the Alabama greeting we had down there," says fan, Damon Leichty.
Their arrival wasn't as celebratory as they hoped, but these travelers say they're still proud to sport their ND gear.
"I had such a fun time and I'd be willing to watch that game a million times because I love my school and I will always support them," says student, Kayla Bolcari.
"I'll always be a Notre Dame fan," says Newton.
And they're excited to cheer on the Irish next year.
"We'd do it again. We'd follow this team to the end of the earth, it's a special team, a great season, great coach, great university. These guys are special players. We'd watch them anywhere," says Leichty.
