The South Bend Fire Department has a new tool in their fleet.
A mobile safety house was shown for the first time Thursday.
The safety house is an educational tool to teach kids and businesses about fire safety and fire prevention.
The safety house simulates events that would happen in a real life emergency situation.
"For us to acquire this great tool that we can use to help teach children and businesses how to prevent fires and fire injuries and fatalities moving forward," says Fire Chief Stephen Cox.
The safety house will start visiting schools and businesses in the spring.
