A Kosciusko County woman is facing charges after a toddler was injured in her care. The Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department says Karen Bartley was watching her fiance's 2-year-old back in mid-December of last year when the head injuries occurred. Bartley was arrested Thursday afternoon.
The child was brought in to the Kosciusko Community Hospital with a skull fracture. Police say Bartley originally told them that the child threw a "temper tantrum" and repeatedly banged its head on the floor.
After medical officials said the injuries didn't match her description of events, police say Bartley changed hr story. Bartley told police that she had been playing with the toddler and "had become overly aggressive."
Bartley is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a preliminary charge of Neglect of a Dependent.
