Neighbors say a driver was pried out of his vehicle after hitting a tree. Dustin Taylor was traveling northbound on County Road 1 in Elkhart. He lost control of his vehicle after illegally passing another vehicle.
His vehicle struck a tree and landed in a yard north of Florida Avenue.
"I heard a very loud bang, it felt like the house shook. I thought a large tree branch had fallen on the house or something, but when I came upstairs and looked out the window, I saw this," says Steve Wendler.
Officers say Taylor was taken to Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was cited for passing in a no passing zone and speeding.
