Brian Kelly to Attend Walter Camp Ceremony

Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelly will be in New Haven, Connecticut Saturday evening to accept the Walter Camp Award as the Coach of the Year in college football.  FOX 28 Sports Director Dean Huppert confirmed through Notre Dame's sports information department that Kelly is scheduled to attend.

Kelly has been silent since Monday night when Notre Dame lost to Alabama in the National Championship 42-14.  Tuesday he reportedly interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles for their head coaching job.

Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick has been unavailable for comment on the situation.  Monday night he told the media that he had BCS meetings to go to and Coach Kelly would be on the road recruiting.  He said they would sit down and talk about coach's contract when they were both back on campus.  Kelly is currently signed with the Irish through the year 2016.  Reports surfaced that the coach was out of the country on vacation with his family, but that has not been confirmed.

The silence from the head coach and the university about the future of Coach Kelly has caused quite a stir in South Bend and across the nation.  5-Star Recruit Alex Anzalone has switched his verbal commitment from Notre Dame to Florida this week.  He was scheduled to be on campus this weekend as an early enrollee, but now he's making that move to Gainesville.

Not only will Kelly be receiving the Coach of the Year, but Notre Dame captain and linebacker Manti Te'o was named the Walter Camp Player of the Year.
