The Elkhart City Council will meet on Monday and up for debate are a couple of ordinances that deal with the budget.
Over the last few months the council has dealt with a controversial decision involving furlough days for city employees. At the meeting the council will have the first hearing for an ordinance that would eliminate all furlough days for the 2013 calendar year. But it would cost $402,369 which would come from "certain funds."
The council will also talk about an ordinance that would add one police officer and one firefighter to the city's arsenal. That would cost $125,175 which would come from the General Fund.
The meeting is scheduled to take place inside the council chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall at 7 p.m.
