We all know winning the lottery is unlikely, but the win by a South Bend man Friday is downright incredible.
Arnie Horowitz plays regularly, 3 or 4 days a week, at a gas station on the 51000 block of SR-933 in South Bend. He recently won the Cash 5 Jackpot of $134,000. When he went in Friday for the check presentation with the media, he checked his tickets from Thursday night and discovered he won another $25,000!
"It said, you have to report to the Indiana lottery office, congratulations. And I looked at the ticket and I was like, 'Oh my gosh!' It's the 4-thousand straight for $5. So I won $25,000 additionally."
That adds up to $159,000 in total winnings. The lottery official that was on hand says he has never seen this before.
The station doesn't get anything for these particular tickets, but certainly appears to be a lucky place. "We just love to see it for our customers,
you know," says owner Rick Ferrara. "We hope they tell everybody and all their friends think it's
a lucky corner and come in and see our cashiers and buy their lottery
tickets here."
You can try your luck there, but also know, Horowitz does play a series of his favorite numbers.
