Martin Luther King Junior Day may be Monday, but that didn't stop a crowd from celebrating his life a day early.
The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of St. Joseph County hosted it's 23rd annual Commemoration Service in King's honor.
Folks gathered at the Salvation Army Kroc Center Sunday to celebrate together.
The service was open to churches of all denominations to listen to guest speakers and local music groups.
"This is a very large crowd today and we're very excited. There's lots of enthusiasm, lots of encouragement, lots of excitement. People are really just happy to get together, to worship together, to share together, to fellowship together," says Major Bob Webster with the Kroc Center.
The IMA says the program allows the community to gather together and remember how far we've come since the days of Martin Luther King, Jr.
