The story with the weather Monday was cold, wind, and snow.
That's exactly what firefighters were up against in Michigan as they responded to a fire in Edwardsburg.
"Slip and fall. Hypothermia. Those types of things," says Edwardsburg Fire Department Captain, Vince Vargo.
That's in addition to what firefighters deal with under ideal conditions.
A mobile home fire put firefighters to the test Monday.
"I saw a lot of fire trucks and ambulance and I was just like, I didn't know if anyone was home and I was just hoping that nobody got injured," says Kailee Claire who lives nearby.
The Edwardsburg Fire Department had to call in extra help because there were no fire hydrants in the Colonial Acres Mobile Home Park.
Without the help from three other departments, firefighters would have had to truck in water and that could have been pretty dangerous.
"The snow-covered slick roads would have possibly hampered us a little bit," says Vargo.
That's pretty much the situation all over Michiana.
"It's getting slick. This year for some reason, this fine snow makes it really slick on the roads," says Elkhart resident Vince Mammolenti.
The wind chill goes right through you, even for people who like winter!
"I love the cold, but it's pretty chilly out," says Elkhart resident, Jordan Hershberger.
"These cold temperatures we get every year, really in the zeroes. That's the worst part and this wind and this fine snow," says Mammolenti.
