One local school district is bringing in some big bucks. $500,000 will be rewarded to Penn Harris Madison schools.
They have been chosen to share in a grant by the Indiana Department of Education to reward excellent teachers.
The amount of money distributed to each teacher will be based on if they are rated as effective or highly effective. It will be handed to the teachers as bonus compensation.
"We're very proud of our teachers and our students and parents for making this a great school system. But teachers are really the key to our success for student learning," said Superintendent Jerry Thacker.
The money will be based on this year's performance, which will be evaluated at the end of the school year.
