With gun control talks heating up in Washington D.C., a gun show is just getting started in Michiana.
"I was really surprised at how big the crowd was," said Jeff Fenimore, a gun enthusiast.
Fenimore was just one of hundreds of people who were waiting in a line that went out the door to get into the Gun Slinger Gun Show in Elkhart. The big line Friday afternoon, meant big business for vendors at the show.
"Hand guns are selling, shot guns are selling, riffles are selling. It's just a little bit of everything," said Bob Pfefferkorn, a private gun collection vendor.
Even the event organizers were surprised to see the big group of people crowding the line nearly an hour before doors opened Friday. Gun enthusiasts like Fenimore were very eager to get in.
"I think a lot of people are afraid that the laws going to change on them and they're trying to get their weapons for their own protection before the law changes," said Fenimore.
Fenimore, like many collectors at the show, believes all the gun control talk is giving people like him a bad name.
"Personally I don't have a problem with guns. I consider them a tool. They're an instrument and the people who think guns kill people are mistaken personally," said Fenimore. "It's people who kill people in my opinion."
The show is going on while Vice President Joe Biden is touring the country to talk about tighter gun control.
