The City of Elkhart is reminding people about removing snow from their sidewalks. The city has received many calls claiming people have not removed snow.
Mayor Dick Moore spoke about the specifics of the ordinance. "Ordinance is whenever you have over two inches of snow on your sidewalk then you have 24 hours to have it removed. We do make exceptions for those who have medical problems and should not be out snow shoveling," said Mayor Moore.
If you need to apply for shoveling assistance call the city. If residents don't remove the snow in the required time they be subject to a 25 dollar fine.
There is one catch. If it snows off and on for a day the clock re-starts everytime the snowfall ends.
