Warsaw police say 63 year old Thomas Kowalczk of Marblehead Ohio was stopping to refuel at Warsaw Municipal Airport Sunday morning when he crash-landed.
Kowalczk told police a crosswind caught the airplane, causing it to tip sideways and the wing hit the ground.
Police say the plane bounced then several times as it tried to land, it crossed the runway and the adjoining taxiway before crashing into the airport fuel tank barriers and a fence.
Kowalczk's son was flying with him, neither was hurt.
The pair were on their way to Grand Rapids.
