Warsaw police caught a suspected drunk driver after he apparently climbed a tree in an attempt to escape.
Police say around 3:30am officers spotted a silver Chrysler 200 driving out of Lucerne Park with no lights at a high speed. Officers chased after the vehicle that was going over 100 miles per hour to County Road 600 where the Chrysler crashed into a tree.
Police took three passengers into custody at the scene of the crash, but they were all released without charges. The driver apparently fled on foot into a wooded area.
A K-9 unit was called out and tracked the suspect. Police found him stuck up in tree about 8 feet off the ground. The Atwood Fire Department was able to come out and get the man free.
The driver, Jeremy Neibert of Winona Lake, denied a breathalyzer test, but police got a search warrant and took a blood draw. Neibert is facing charges of Resisting Arrest with a Vehicle, Fleeing Law Enforcement, and Criminal Recklessness. He could also face an Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated charge pending the results of the blood test.
