Indianapolis, IN (January 31, 2013) – The Indiana Department of Correction announce the mistaken release of an offender from authorities in Chicago, Illinois.
44-year-old Steven L. Robbins was released from the Indiana State Prison on a court order on January 29, 2013 to the Cook County Circuit Court on a charge for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver.
The charges against Robbins were dropped, but for reasons yet unknown, the offender was released by Illinois authorities without being held for return to Indiana custody.
A warrant has been issued in both Indiana and Illinois.
Steven L. Robbins is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet and 5 inches, 190 lbs. He has a tattoo on the right side of his neck that says "Nicole".
Robbins was born in Gary, Indiana and is serving a 50 year sentence for Murder and Carrying a Handgun without a License out of Marion County Indiana.
Robbins arrived at the Indiana State Prison on October 25, 2004, and his earliest projected release date was June 29, 2029.
