Police
in Elkhart are
trying to determine if two robberies late Thursday evening are connected.
The
first happened around 11:15 p.m. at the Hampton Inn on 215 North Pointe Boulevard, just north of
the Indiana Toll Road.
Officers say they were told two men entered the hotel, one showing a weapon, and
demanded money. Police say the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of
cash.
The
second robbery happened around 11:39 p.m. at the Yoder Truck Stop on Kent Street, just
north of California Road
near the Elkhart Area Career
Center. Officers say they
were told three men entered the business and demanded money. One of the
suspects showed a weapon. Police say the suspects in this case got away with an
undisclosed amount of cash, along with tobacco products and electronic
equipment.
Police
have only limited descriptions for the suspects in the robberies.
The
suspects in the Hampton Inn robbery are described as white males between 18
and 30 years old. One was around 5'7"-5'9", 145-160 pounds and was wearing a
dark colored winter coat with a hood, the other 5'8" to 5'10" and 155-170
pounds.
The
suspects in the Yoder Truck Stop robbery are described as two white males
around 5'9" to 6'0" and one Hispanic male around 5'7"-5'10". All three were described
as having a medium build wearing all black.
