Police in Elkhart are trying to determine if two robberies late Thursday evening are connected.

The first happened around 11:15 p.m. at the Hampton Inn on 215 North Pointe Boulevard, just north of the Indiana Toll Road. Officers say they were told two men entered the hotel, one showing a weapon, and demanded money. Police say the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The second robbery happened around 11:39 p.m. at the Yoder Truck Stop on Kent Street, just north of California Road near the Elkhart Area Career Center. Officers say they were told three men entered the business and demanded money. One of the suspects showed a weapon. Police say the suspects in this case got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, along with tobacco products and electronic equipment.

Police have only limited descriptions for the suspects in the robberies.

The suspects in the Hampton Inn robbery are described as white males between 18 and 30 years old. One was around 5'7"-5'9", 145-160 pounds and was wearing a dark colored winter coat with a hood, the other 5'8" to 5'10" and 155-170 pounds.

The suspects in the Yoder Truck Stop robbery are described as two white males around 5'9" to 6'0" and one Hispanic male around 5'7"-5'10". All three were described as having a medium build wearing all black.

Anyone with information about either robbery are asked to call Elkhart Police at 574-295-7070 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-342-STOP (7867).
