"I didn't want to go do this today trust me, but I'm here, it has to be done," says Mike Venable, Unicom Satellite technician and owner.
Venable trudges through inches of snow to install a satellite dish. "This is a 365 day a year job, it never stops."
Even in conditions like this he says people want his services. So despite the challenges, you can see him continuing with business as usual. "It kind of stinks working in it, but as long as it's not frigid, because the frigid weather just makes it impossible working with wires."
He says he's thankful it's not too cold, but the snow does put a damper on things. Usually this dish would go on the roof. The snow makes that an unsafe option, so he's doing a temporary installation, something he says he'll make up for later. "Now you have to spin your wheels and go back out on jobs to make sure you redo the job, so it kind of cuts into my profits."
He wasn't the only one braving the snow. Elkhart Public Utilities' crews say they still had work to do.
"Regardless of the cold weather, we have to get out in it and do the job," says Supervisor Jon Brown.
He says this crew was busy fixing a knocked over hydrant, a job that can't be postponed. "When a hydrant's hit we try to make sure we have fire protection so we're right out there making sure that the hydrant is maintained and back in service as soon as possible."
Brown says while most people try to stay in on snow days, they don't have a choice. "We're out in it every workday, we have to get out in it and do the job."
