Thousands of Catholic students gathered at Notre Dame Tuesday for Mass.
The reason - the 21st annual All Schools Mass that celebrates the importance of worship in Catholic education.
Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades led the service.
Bishop Rhoades said the mood of Tuesday's service was a bit somber due to the recent passing of Bishop D'arcy.
"He was always invigorated by young people, when he would visit our high schools for example or having these All Schools Masses he just thrived, and the young people really responded to him so well," said Bishop Rhoades.
Students from over 20 area schools participated in Tuesday's Mass.
