Elkhart police believe they have found two people involved in a string of robberies at tobacco stores that started in January.
The suspects, 24-year-old Nicholas Chaplin and 19-year-old Abigail Pifer, were taken into custody on Friday, February 1. Official charges have not been issued yet, but police are investigating their involvement in two robberies on January 25 and one on January 29.
Two other robberies happened after the suspects arrests. Those happened on February 2 and February 3. Police have not determined whether all five robberies are related.
According to police reports, all five robberies have had at least some similarities. The suspects committing the robberies are described as two white men with covered faces. The take money, cigarettes, and other items and leave in either a black car or gold SUV. Police say their also usually a third suspect waiting outside.
